Dr. Gonzalez treats a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions and conditions caused by spinal subluxation. Due to the nature of both Chiropractic and Acupuncture, many patients incidentally report improvement with a vast array of issues with treatment. This can be explained by the chart to the right showing how spinal subluxation affects the autonomic nervous system.
Examples of musculoskeletal conditions treated include neck pain, back pain, low back pain, many types of migraine/headaches caused by musculoskeletal issues, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, fibromyalgia, tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis), ankle sprain or strain, wrist sprain or strain, iliotibial band syndrome (I.T. band syndrome), shoulder pain, knee pain, thoracic outlet syndrome (T.O.S.), and many more
Treatment at Solutions Alternative Healthcare starts with a thorough consultation and exam. If imaging (X-ray/MRI/CT) are necessary, they are ordered through a local radiology center. See our Common Questions page. (If you have imaging already, please bring those reports with you.) After examination, any of the following treatment types may then be utilized: Chiropractic
Chiropractors look for subluxation (misalignment) within the spinal column and other joints of the body to increase joint mobility, decrease pain and discomfort, and to enhance the ability of the musculoskeletal system so that it may work at its maximum potential. Chiropractic adjustments can also help prevent degenerative changes within the spine with maintenance care.
Soft tissue therapy may also be performed such as Fascial Distortion Model, myofascial realignment, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, stretching, and active therapies/exercises to further aid in the biomechanical function involved. Often the patient is given "homework" such as stretches, exercises, instructions for using ice/heat, etc. See Common Questions or Contact Us for more information. Chiropractic Acupuncture
Chiropractic Acupuncture treatment is not the same as Oriental Medicine and is based on spinal subluxations found in the exam as well as musculoskeletal signs and symptoms.
Very small needles are inserted into specific points to help the body work to its maximum potential aiding with healing from injuries and to help control pain.
Posture is as important to spinal health as Chiropractic and proper nutrition are.
Dr. Gonzalez uses software to make specific measurements to determine posture abnormalities. After that, specific suggestions are made in order to improve posture over time such as stretches, exercises, and ergonomic changes in the patient's work environment according to the individual patient's results. The patient is given a copy of the report as well as stretches and exercises.
In this example, the results say that the patient's head should weigh about 8.6 pounds based on her weight, age, and height. Due to physics, her posture causes her head to effectively weigh 26.9 pounds! This means that her head is putting 18.3 pounds MORE pressure on her spine than it should. If she does not correct this, she could have a significant increase in degeneration in her spine over time. Degeneration in the spine is not reversible, but is preventable and we all should strive to reduce the rate of degeneration in our spines by practicing proper posture and lifting techniques.
